I have found bariatric surgery to be an extremely rewarding part of my surgical practice. The changes that I witness in my patients physically, emotionally and medically are truly amazing. I don't think that there is any other field in medicine that I could be a part of such an awesome transformation. St. Alexius Hospital is an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Center of Excellence.

The ASMBS Center of Excellence designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.

To earn the ASMBS Center of Excellence designation, our physicians and the NewStart Program at St. Alexius Hospital underwent a series of site inspections during which all aspects of the program's surgical processes were closely examined and data on health outcomes was collected. Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), an organization dedicated to pursuing surgical excellence, formulated and established the rigorous standards to which our physicians and the St. Alexius NewStart Program were evaluated.
